Enloe Notified of Intention to Hold Informational Picket
CHICO, Calif., Aug. 22, 2024 – The California Nurses Association (CNA), representing approximately 990 nurses at Enloe Health, has notified Enloe of its intention to hold an informational picket on Aug. 28, 2024.
The informational picket is not a strike and is not expected to interrupt patient care. The activity is expected to take place in front of Enloe Health Enloe Medical Center.
Enloe Health deeply respects the work and skill of its nurses and honors their right to union representation. Negotiations to renew the contract between the CNA and Enloe have been ongoing since December 2023. On Aug. 15, 2024, the CNA chose to let the current contract extension expire.
The current wage increase proposal by Enloe is 8% over three years, providing for a wage scale as high as $77.58 an hour, exceeding posted wage scales at other hospitals in the region. Other proposals offered include increased pay for night and weekend shifts, increased paid time off, and freezing current health care premiums at less than $100 per month per family.
The most recent proposal from the CNA calls for a 28% wage increase over three years.
Enloe Health remains highly motivated to negotiate a fair agreement for its nurses and is making every effort to continue negotiations with the CNA. Four bargaining dates in September are currently scheduled.
Enloe Health is a nonprofit, independent health system that includes a 298-bed inpatient hospital, Level II Trauma Center, Emergency Department and several outpatient clinical care services.
