Enloe Health Announces Changes to Governing, Foundation Boards

New Board MembersCHICO, Calif., Jan. 16, 2024 – Enloe Health’s Board of Trustees and the Enloe Health Foundation Board of Directors are welcoming new members.

Enloe Health announced changes to its governing and Foundation boards, effective Jan. 1, 2024. Enloe Health’s Board of Trustees is comprised of 14 community members who volunteer their time to govern the organization. The Enloe Health Foundation Board of Directors is a group of community volunteers that help steward philanthropic gifts given to enhance patient care at Enloe.

Local business leader Jim Stevens joins the Enloe Health Board of Trustees, after serving on the Enloe Health Foundation Board of Directors since 2014. Stevens, recently retired, was a partner-owner of NorthStar, a Chico-based engineering and surveying firm. Stevens has also served as a member of the board of directors for the Chico Noon Rotary Club and as an appointed member of the City of Chico Mayor’s Advisory Board, General Plan Advisory Committee, and the Chico Area Recreation & Park District’s Master Plan Citizen’s Advisory Committee.

Along with its new member, the Board of Trustees installed new officers. Walt Schafer was elected as chair, replacing Denise Adams — who will continue her service as a trustee through 2024. Rick Krepelka was elected vice chair. Gloria Godinez remains board secretary. The officers will serve through Dec. 31, 2024.

Trustees Craig Duncan and William “Bill” Carriere concluded their service on the board in 2023. Appointed in 2014, Duncan served as board chair, vice chair and secretary. Carriere joined the trustees in 2015 and served as secretary and vice chair.

“Our deepest gratitude to Bill and Craig for their years of service as trustees, and the warmest welcome to Jim Stevens,” said Mike Wiltermood, Enloe Health’s President and CEO. “Enloe trustees graciously volunteer countless hours of time to help guide our organization, always keeping the needs of our patients and their families at the center of their work.”

Joining the Enloe Health Foundation Board of Directors are Sierra Grossman and Bill Carriere. Both are currently serving as volunteer tri-chairs on the Enloe Health Comprehensive Cancer Center Campaign Committee.

Sierra Grossman is a second-generation owner at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., a leader in America’s craft beer industry. Her position as Vice President allows her to support Sierra Nevada’s corporate, social, advocacy and philanthropic initiatives. Grossman graduated from California State University, Chico, with a degree in Health and Community Services, with an emphasis on Health Education. She has been involved in the local community in a variety of roles, serving on nonprofit boards focusing on sustainability, local resources and education. Her current board seats include Golden Valley Bank, Wildflower Open Classroom, Chico Chamber of Commerce, California Craft Brewers Association and the John Muir Trail Wilderness Conservancy.

Carriere is President/CEO of Carriere Family Farms, Inc., in Glenn, Calif. He has served his family farm in this capacity since 2007. Carriere has extensive experience in oversight of farming, processing, sales and marketing, international shipping, and distribution of walnuts and other farm products. He holds a bachelor’s in agriculture and managerial economics from the University of California, Davis, and graduated with Class 27 of the California Agricultural Leadership Program.

The Enloe Health Foundation bids farewell to Paul L. Moore, Ph.D., who retired from the Board of Directors in 2023 after serving since January 2018.

“As we honor Paul for his years of service on the Board of Directors, we are thrilled to formally welcome Sierra and Bill to the board,” said Jolene Francis, Vice President of Philanthropy & Communications. “Their successful leadership of our cancer center capital campaign is a testament to the impact they will have on our fundraising efforts in the years ahead.”
