Enloe Foundation Hosts Annual Golf Tournament in Benefit of New Comprehensive Cancer Center
CHICO, Calif., Sept. 14, 2022 – The 37th annual Enloe Foundation Golf Tournament will take place Friday, Sept. 16 at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico. Proceeds will support the construction of Enloe’s new comprehensive cancer center, as well as fund two nursing scholarships.
“The Golf Tournament is one of the Foundation’s signature events, and we’re very excited to be able to lend our efforts for such an important cause, which is the construction of a new comprehensive cancer center,” said Suzanne Watroba, the Foundation’s director of Advancement. “The North State unfortunately has a high rate of cancer diagnosis and mortality. We want to be able to provide leading-edge cancer care here, serving our regional community and beyond.”
The golf nursing scholarship is awarded each year to two highly qualified Enloe nurses as they continue their educational path. These two scholarships are among 25 the Foundation gives each year to promote a skilled, competent and engaged staff who provides compassionate, quality care.
The new comprehensive cancer center will be located at the corner of Bruce Road and 20th Street in the Meriam Park development in Chico. Construction is expected to begin in late 2023. The center will be able to care for 2,000 new patients each year.
Since launching in 1986, the Enloe Foundation Golf Tournament has raised more than $2.7 million that has been used to support programs, equipment and facilities benefitting Enloe patients.
The success of the Enloe Foundation Golf Tournament is thanks to the many sponsors, players, and volunteers who generously give their time and support. Each year more than 200 players sign up to participate. This year’s tournament is sponsored by 82 individuals and organizations. For a complete list of sponsors, visit www.enloe.org/golf.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by brunch at 9:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 11 a.m. An outdoors awards ceremony reception will conclude the tournament at 5 p.m.
