Two women looking at medical billsEnloe Health provides quality care regardless of patients’ ability to pay. We offer a Community Service Program and Discount Policy to help people who have little to no insurance coverage.

Enloe’s financial assistance is based on family income and medical needs.

Financial Counselors

Financial counselors are available to help you.

Call Enloe Health Patient Financial Services at 530-332-6350. Counselors may be able to help you get health insurance or financial assistance. They will also work with you to arrange a manageable payment plan.

Physician Charges

The Community Service Program and Discount Policy now also includes Emergency, Cardiology, and Specialty Physician charges billed by Enloe. Uninsured patients will receive discounts on these physician services if they meet income criteria.

Discount Policy

Exterior photo of Patient Financial ServicesEnloe Health offers a tiered discount policy to patients whose family income is at or below 450% of Federal Poverty Level and whose out-of-pocket expenses exceed 10% of their annual gross income.

If you meet the criteria established in our policy, you can apply for a discount that will base your payment on the Medicare fee schedule.

If you’re uninsured and your family income is at or below 450% of the Federal Poverty Level, you may qualify for Community Service.

If you are applying for Community Service, you must also agree to apply for other financial assistance that might be available to you, such as state and local Medi-Cal programs. Generally, the following guidelines apply:

  • Families with income less than 150% of the Federal Poverty Level may be eligible for free care.
  • Families with incomes between 151% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible for free care after a $100 per visit co-pay.
  • Families with incomes between 301% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible for Medicare pricing.
  • Families with incomes between 401% and 450% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible for 150% of the Medicare pricing or the self-pay discount of 55%, whichever is less. Charges must be greater than $15,000.

FAQs

What if I exceed the income levels but cannot pay my portion of the bill?

Enloe Health realizes that some families suffer catastrophic accidents or illnesses. If you are insured and need help paying your bill, please call a patient financial counselor. Caregivers can help arrange payments that fit your budget.

Will you help me find health insurance for my future needs?

Yes. Having health insurance protects families from large medical bills. As part of the Community Service process, we will work with you to determine if you are eligible for government-sponsored health plans.

Does it cost anything to participate in the Community Service Program?

There is no charge to apply for the program. Many eligible patients will be asked to pay a co-pay of $100 per visit. Other patients may be asked to pay a reduced bill based on their income.

How do I apply for the Community Service or Discount programs?

To apply, complete the Community Service Application Form. You will be asked to provide documentation of your family’s income. This may include tax returns, pay stubs or other forms of income history. When and how will I be notified if I am eligible?

You will get a letter through MyChart or in the mail. This will let you know if you are eligible for full or partial financial assistance. The letter may say that we need more information from you to complete the process. If it does, please respond as soon as possible.

How long does it take to determine eligibility?

In most cases, you will receive the notification form within one month of submitting your application.

How long does the eligibility last?

If you are eligible for our Community Service Program, you are eligible for six months. However, you may apply for multiple medical visits in multiple months on one application.

What if I disagree with the eligibility decision?

If you disagree with the determination made by our staff, you have a right to appeal in writing to:

Uninsured Discount

If your bill is larger than $300 and you either didn’t apply or don’t qualify for Community Service, you may still get a discount. You have access to a 55% uninsured discount as long as your account is in good standing and has not been referred to collections.

We hope you take advantage of this discount. An unpaid bill could affect your credit status. After making every effort to work with patients, unpaid bills are sent to an outside agency for collection. You can avoid damage to your credit by paying the discounted rate or applying for the Community Service Program.

    Payment arrangements may be approved at the discretion of Enloe Health. Your payment plan may be interest-free for the first six months. There will be interest charges applied to payment plans longer than six months.
