Enloe Medical Center received the 2024 American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines ® - Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Receiving Center Gold Plus Award.

Hospitals receiving this award from the American Heart Association have demonstrated their commitment to offering rapid, research-based care to people experiencing a type of heart attack known as an ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

U.S. News & World Report designated Enloe Medical Center as a Northern Sierras Best Regional Hospital for 2024-2025. This year, only 466 hospitals were recognized as Best Regional Hospitals. That’s fewer than 11% of the 4,500 hospitals U.S. News analyzed nationwide. The medical center was also highlighted as a high performer in these nine lines of service:

• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Colon cancer screening
• Heart failure
• Hip replacement
• Kidney failure
• Knee replacement
• Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma

After decades of providing care locally, Northstate Cardiology has joined the Enloe Health system. The office includes 36 caregivers, including several with service of more than 25 years, and three advanced practice providers. 

Enloe Health Northstate Cardiology will remain at its current locations in Chico and Oroville but will have new phone and fax numbers.

The Chico office is at 198 Cohasset Road and can be reached at 530-332-3350. Its fax number is 530-893-6042. The Oroville office is at 2860 Olive Highway, Suite B, and can be reached at 530-332-3355. Its fax number is 530-893-6045.  

Dr. Wolk and Dr. Prince have been members of the Enloe medical staff since 1983 and 2019, respectively, and frequently perform procedures at the Starmer Cardiovascular Care Center.  

Additionally, cardiologist Syed Hussain, M.D. has joined the practice. 

Enloe Health’s Healthy Heart Exercise program is back! Open to community members, it allows participants to exercise in a supervised environment led by trusted caregivers from Enloe Health Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday of the month at Arthur Acker Gymnasium at California State University, Chico, from 6:30-8 a.m. The program costs $50 a month.

The Enloe Health Pharmacy is now open seven days a week.

The pharmacy is open weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a lunch break from 1-1:30 p.m. The pharmacy will also continue to be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Enloe Health Primary Care is accepting new patients who live in Butte County and are age 12 or older. We accept Medicare and most private insurance.

Enloe Health opened a new full-service draw station on the Esplanade. We now offer four convenient locations for lab services in Chico. The new lab is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Patients can walk in for most services at all our labs, and most test results are accessible in MyChart.

Enloe Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery has several updates. The clinic has moved from its office in Fountain Medical Plaza into Women’s Services - North, and the clinic has a new name.

Enloe Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery is now Enloe Urogynecology. The phone and fax numbers remain the same.

Additionally, the practice will limit the diagnoses it accepts. The diagnoses we will no longer see are pelvic pain, bladder pain, sexual dysfunction and recurrent urinary tract infections.

The Enloe Bariatric Program clinic is moving to a newly renovated suite in Fountain Medical Plaza, 251 Cohasset Road. Starting June 12, it will now be located at Suite 240 on the second floor.

The program is also pleased to introduce Steven Perrins, M.D., who joins the Enloe Bariatric Program June 9. Dr. Perrins will take over the practice of Deron Ludwig, M.D., who will be moving out of the area. Dr. Ludwig’s last day at the clinic will be June 11.

Referral Changes

Enloe General & Vascular Surgery Clinic is now only accepting referrals for vascular procedures, including carotid artery disease, aortic and peripheral aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, hemodialysis access, non-cosmetic venous insufficiency, and varicose veins.

All general surgery referrals have been centralized to one team to help make sure patients get the first available appointment. Please fax all general surgery referrals to 530-893-6060.

Please continue to send vascular referrals to the clinic, instead of a specific physician, to secure the first available appointment for your patient.

Physician Changes

Denis Westphal, M.D., has retired from Enloe General & Vascular Surgery clinic, but he is still working with the Enloe Wound/Ostomy & Hyperbaric Center.

We welcomed vascular surgeon Mark Janzen, M.D., in January to help meet the growing need in our community.
