Breastfeeding Support
Enloe Health gives every mother the confidence she needs to breastfeed — a practice that’s good for her and her baby.
Helping Mother & Baby
In children, breastfeeding lowers the risk of:
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)
- And other childhood conditions
It also decreases moms’ risk of:
- Postpartum bleeding/anemia
- Postpartum depression
- Breast and ovarian cancers
- And other conditions
Our caregivers are here to help you every step of your journey.
A Baby-Friendly Hospital
As a Baby-Friendly designated hospital, Enloe Health Medical Center provides families with the skills and support they need for the best feeding and bonding success. As soon as your baby is born, a caregiver will assist with placing your baby skin-to-skin with you, and your baby will remain skin-to-skin until after the first feeding. This is an important milestone for you and your baby, and it’s part of the commitment to being a Baby-Friendly hospital.
Hospitals with this distinction provide families with the skills they need for the best feeding and bonding results. Enloe Health Medical Center was the first Baby-Friendly hospital in Butte County.
Before Delivery
At Enloe Health, we offer an array of breastfeeding services even before your labor, including:
During Your Hospital Stay
Our caregivers provide help for new moms after their delivery to establish breastfeeding. Ideally, your baby will attach to your breast and begin nursing right after your labor and delivery. But if this doesn’t happen, our team will guide you to success.
After Your Stay
If you need help after leaving the hospital, Enloe Health' Mother & Baby Education Center offers lactation consultations and support.
