Treatments
At the Enloe Regional Cancer Center, our physicians carefully create personalized treatment plans and use a multidisciplinary approach with each patient.
Several treatments can be incorporated into these plans, including:
Cancer Conferences
Cases can be presented at Cancer Conferences, which include representatives from Enloe’s Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Services, Pathology, Radiology and Supportive Services departments. These conferences happen four times per week, with each session focusing on a different subject. These subjects include liver, pancreas (hepatobiliary), breast, general and gastrointestinal (GI).
Immunotherapy & Hormone Therapy
Cancer patients at Enloe can receive immunotherapy and hormone therapy. Immunotherapy utilizes parts of a person’s immune system to fight cancer. This can happen in a few general ways:
- The treatment can boost your immune system’s natural defenses to make it work harder to locate and destroy cancer cells.
- Or artificial substances can be created to restore, or improve the way your immune system works.
Hormone therapy, meanwhile, is targeted at slowing the growth of types of cancer that use hormones to grow. There are two main types of hormone therapy:
- Treatment that blocks the body’s ability to produce hormones
- And treatment that interrupts the way hormones act in the body
