Symptom Management
Enloe Health Symptom Management is an example of our mission to elevate the health of our communities.
Symptom Management refers to patient- and family-centered care that optimizes quality of life for patients facing cancer. It is an essential part of cancer care throughout your treatment and beyond.
Our team will partner with your oncology team to assist with:
- Pain, nausea, constipation and other symptoms you may be experiencing
- Education about your illness and prognosis
- Counseling and spiritual support for you and your loved ones
- Referrals for lymphedema, nutrition or financial concerns
- And more
Your needs will determine how frequently you see the Symptom Management team. This is not an emergency service, but your care team may arrange to see you more often if a problem arises. The goal is to help keep you stable and avoid trips to the hospital.
For Any Age, At Any Stage
This type of care is appropriate for any age, at any stage of cancer, and can be provided together with curative treatment. Involving the Symptom Management team does not mean you have to stop treatment. Symptom Management is not only for end-of-life or terminal illnesses.
At Enloe Health, Symptom Management is provided by an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, dietitians, financial navigators and nurses to address your needs as a whole.
The goal is to relieve suffering and provide an extra layer of support. Services are tailored to you and your family. Unsure if Symptom Management might be for you? Ask about Symptom Management if:
- You have a new, life-changing cancer diagnosis.
- You need assistance with medical decision making or advanced-care planning.
- Your disease is impacting the quality of your life.
