Enloe Health offers three support groups for those considering bariatric surgery and those who have had the procedure. These groups, called Bariatric Buddies, are free and take place every month.
When you attend, you’ll gain insight on wellness topics and meet others who have had — or are preparing for — bariatric surgery in an atmosphere of encouragement.
Chico Bariatric Buddies usually meets the last Wednesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m. The Redding Bariatric Buddies group usually meets in Redding the second Wednesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m. An online support group meeting also takes place on Zoom the first Wednesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m.
This program is designed to give you greater support and understanding during your bariatric journey. It connects you with others who have had weight loss surgery through Enloe Health Bariatric & Metabolic Services. Mentors work alongside you to help improve your well-being.
Mentors communicate with mentees through:
- Phone calls
- Text messages
- And emails
All mentors go through the process of becoming an Enloe Health volunteer and have gone through specialized training. They help encourage you and clarify and reiterate information from the patient manual. Mentors do not give medical advice.
Enloe Health Bariatric & Metabolic Services also offers quarterly walks. When available, people drop by to be active, explore scenic areas and meet others who have gone through weight loss surgery.
