Darby Makel, Ph.D, Chair of the Enloe Board of Trustees, is the owner of Makel Engineering, which offers products and services for aviation, space, military and commercial applications. His service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began in January 2003. Darby was elected Interim Board Chair in June 2006 and elected as permanent Chair in September 2006.

 

 

 

 

 

Judy Sitton, Vice Chair of the Enloe Board of Trustees, is a retired co-founder and executive vice president of the software company SunGard Bi-Tech. She is current Board President of the Northern California Natural History Museum at California State University, Chico, and serves as a member of the College of Natural Sciences Advisory Board. Judy is also a member of the CSU, Chico Leaders’ Honor Society and the Butte Pioneers. She is known for her support of many community organizations and activities and has received numerous awards and recognitions. Judy earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Social Science in 1968, a Lifetime Teaching Credential in 1969 and an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters in 2003 from CSU, Chico. Judy is also Chair of Enloe’s Planetree Leadership Team. “Exceptional health care is at the top of my list of priorities,” Judy says. “I expect that all patients be treated as I expect my family to be treated – with the best technology, appropriate physical care and with a patient-focused delivery of that medical care.” Judy began her service with the Enloe Board of Trustees on Jan. 1, 2005.

 

Peter Magnusson, M.D., Secretary/Treasurer of the Enloe Board of Trustees, is a local cardiologist and has been a member of Enloe Medical Center's Medical Staff since 1988. Dr. Magnusson is board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. His service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began on May 21, 2001.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Warren Brusie is owner of Brusie Funeral Home. He has worked at his family's funeral home and cemetery since 1958, except for a short break while on active duty in the Army. Warren's parents started the business, and now he, his wife, their two children and their spouses carry it on. Warren is a licensed California Funeral Director and Embalmer and a Licensed Cemetery Broker. Born at Enloe Hospital, Warren has Dr. Enloe's signature on his birth certificate. Warren has served on the board of several local organizations, including as Board Member and Treasurer of the Chico Museum Association, and Director of the Chico Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Chico Business Association. Warren began service on Enloe's Board of Trustees on Jan. 1, 2005.

 

 

 

John Howard, MD, is an Ex-Officio Member of Enloe’s Board of Trustees, due to his position as Enloe’s Chief of Staff. His service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began Jan. 1, 2007. Dr. Howard practices hematology at the Enloe Regional Cancer Center. He has been in Chico and has worked at Enloe Medical Center since 1983.He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.


 

 

 

 

 

Matthews Jackson, Sr., is proprietor of MJ Management Solutions, a management consulting service. He served Butte College as assistant superintendent and vice president for education and student programs and services from 1992 to 2006, and worked on campus in many other capacities from 1975. Matt has a Master's Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in English. His education includes graduate work at Berne University in International Politics and post-graduate work at the Harvard Institute for Higher Education Management, where he received a Certificate of Completion. Matt serves on the California State University, Chico Advisory Board and is president of the Chico Chapter of the CSU, Chico Alumni Association. Previous community services included serving on the Board of Directors of the Chico Chamber of Commerce and on the City of Chico Alcohol and Drug Abuse Committee. He also previously served as President of the Chico Rotary Club and was president and a founder of the Boys and Girls Club of Chico, among many other activities and services. "I am committed to doing everything I can to make Enloe a center of excellence in the delivery of health services to the region," says Matt. His service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began Jan. 1, 2007.

Tom Lando is the Principal/Owner of Lando and Associates, a planning, administration and management consulting firm. He previously served the City of Chico as City Manager, Executive Director of the Chico Redevelopment Agency and Airport Manager from July 1992 to January 2006, and in other director positions since 1980. Tom has a Doctorate and Master's Degree in Public Administration, and a Master's Degree in City Planning. He has served on and is a member of many organizations, including California State University, Chico Masters Program; Rotary Club Board of Directors; Butte College Foundation Board; Advisory Committee for Rural and Town Planning; and the Torres Homeless Shelter Board of Directors. Tom’s service on Enloe's Board of Trustees began Jan. 1, 2007.

 

 

 

Eric F. Larrabee, a farmer from Durham, serves several local organizations, including the California Rice Research Board, the California Rice Quality Committee and the Western Canal Water District. He also recently served as Commissioner for District 5 of the Glenn County Planning Commission. Eric has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He enjoys spending time with his wife Treasa, and twin daughters Jillian and Abigail. Eric’s service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began Jan. 1, 2007.


 

 

 

 

Marsha Martin recently retired as Finance Director for the City of Chico, where her responsibilities included oversight of the investment portfolio and treasury functions, budget development and performance measurement, financial accounting and reporting, bond issuance and general management responsibilities. Her professional career also included employment with the Chico Unified School District and management positions with the Butte County Auditor’s Office. During the 35 years she has lived with family in Chico, Marsha has been active in the community and held numerous leadership positions in many civic and philanthropic organizations including Omega Nu, Esplanade House, American Association of University Women (AAUW), Chico Youth Tennis Club, Chico Aqua Jets, PTA (Parent Teachers Association), Butte County League of Women Voters and the United Way. Her service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began in January 2005. Marsha is Chair of the board’s Finance Committee.


 

Joseph Matthews, MD, a Physician Trustee Member of the Enloe Board of Trustees, is a general surgeon and colon and rectal surgeon in Chico. He has been a member of the Enloe Medical Staff since 1983. Dr. Matthews is board certified in surgery and colon and rectal surgery. He is also a member of Enloe’s Planetree Leadership Team. Dr. Matthews has served on the Enloe Board of Trustees as a physician trustee member since Jan. 1, 2007.

 

 

 

 

 

Valerie Miller is a family law attorney in private practice in Chico. She has been a faculty member at Cal Northern School of Law and a part-time faculty member at California State University, Chico. Among Valerie’s many other activities, she has served on the Board of Directors of the North Valley Mediation Center and the California State Bar Board of Governors. Valerie's service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began in 2003.

 

 

 

 

 

Steve Nettleton is a retired grocery store owner and businessman. He served as President and CEO of two local supermarket chains and was President and CEO of Chico Heat Baseball Club. The baseball stadium on the California State University, Chico campus is named after Steve and his wife Kathy in dedication for their generous donation. The Nettletons also gave a major donation to Enloe Medical Center, whose Mother & Baby Care Center will carry the Nettleton name as well. Steve is a member of the Board of Directors for the TriCo Bancshares holding company of Tri Counties Bank and served as chairman of Enloe’s Century Project Campaign, which is charged with raising funds to build a new patient tower as part of an expansion at Enloe Medical Center. Steve’s service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began in 2002.







Forrest Olson, M.D., is an Ex-Officio Member of Enloe’s Board of Trustees, due to his position as Chief of Staff Elect. He joins Enloe Medical Center after completing his residency. His service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began in July 2007.

 

 

 

 



Stephen Pearce, MD, is a local gastroenterologist who has also been a member of Enloe Medical Center's Medical Staff since 1981. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He was a member of the Enloe Health System Board of Directors beginning in 1993, when he replaced Physician Trustee member David H. Schlichting, MD; and he was Chief of Staff from 1989 to 1991. Dr. Pearce is also a member of Enloe’s Planetree Leadership Team. Dr. Pearce's first year of service on the Enloe Board of Trustees was in January 2006.

 

 

 

 

Monroe Sprague, MD, a Physician Trustee Member of the Enloe Board of Trustees, specializes in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. “I will work to facilitate cooperation between the medical center and physicians to provide a high-quality of care that is characteristic of Chico’s hometown and friendly style,” said Dr. Sprague. Dr. Sprague has been on the medical staff of Enloe for 25 years. He was the Chief of Staff of Chico Community Hospital for two years and served on multiple committees of both Enloe Medical Center and Community Hospital. Dr. Sprague received his Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. After a U.S. Navy tour, he received his medical degree at the University of Southern California Medical School and received his specialty training in otolaryngology with the Northern California Kaiser Permanente System in the Bay Area. He began service as a Physician Trustee Member on Jan. 1, 2008.

 

 

Lance Tennis is an Ex Officio Member of the Enloe Board of Trustees due to his position as Enloe Foundation Chair. Lance is a rice farmer in Butte and Sutter Counties. He is also a member and past director of Butte County Farm Bureau and served as member and past president of the Western Water Canal Water District’s Board of Directors, among many other activities. Lance received his Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Business from California State University, Chico. His service on the Enloe Board of Trustees began on Jan. 1, 2007.


 

 

 

 

Deborah A. Yancer is an Ex Officio Member of the Enloe Board of Trustees due to her position as CEO of Enloe Medical Center. Deborah has more than 25 years of executive management experience in hospital administration and clinical operations. Prior to coming to Enloe, Deborah served as President of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, a 268-bed acute care hospital in Montgomery County, Md., just outside of Washington, D.C. Additionally during her career, Yancer has also held executive-level positions at hospitals and health systems in Nebraska, Missouri and Michigan. Yancer received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Andrews University and a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas. Among her many personal awards, she has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Women in Maryland and one of the 100 Most Powerful Women of Washington.
