Enloe invites community to heart month activities in February
CHICO, Calif., Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 – Enloe Medical Center will celebrate heart month this February with several events designed to promote heart health in our community.
Friday, Feb. 1 – Cardiac Surgery Reunion
1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico
Former Enloe cardiac surgery patients are invited to this annual reunion with their caretakers. Get re-inspired to continue taking care of your hearts, hear the latest information from the Enloe Heart Team and enjoy heart-healthy refreshments. Please call 332-7016 for reservations.
Thursday, Feb. 14 – Women’s Healthy Heart Tea
Noon to 1 p.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico
Free educational information on women and heart disease, hosted by Cardiologist Marcia Moore, MD. Includes testimony from a heart attack survivor and a presentation by cardiothoracic physician assistant Shari Miller of the Enloe Heart Program.Tea and light lunch will be served. Guests are invited to wear their best tea hats. Reservations are required as seating is limited. Please call 332-7016 to reserve your spot or request more information.
Saturday, Feb. 23 – Enloe Community Heart Health Fair
9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico
This annual free event provides heart health information for all ages. Please note the new location.
- Nutritious cooking demonstrationsby Enloe nutrition and food experts
- Exercise demonstrations by Enloe physical therapists
- Exercises for kids led by Chico Outlaws’ mascot Rascal, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Yoga demonstrations by Nancy Wiegman of Chico Sports Club
- Pilates demonstration from Fit One Athletic Club
- Blood pressure and respiratory screenings
- Medication reviews by Enloe pharmacists
- Healthy recipes, help understanding food labels, heart information for pregnant women and more!
Thursday, Feb. 28 – Anatomy 101 for Everyone!
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico
A free lecture on the heart and circulation presented by Cardiologist Walter Kusumoto, MD, who specializes in diagnosing and treating abnormalities in the electrical system of the heart. You may know thatthe averageheart pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood a day. Did you also know that our hearts send electrical impulses?
