CHICO, Calif., Feb. 12, 2008  – Connie Rowe, RN, has been named as the new Vice President of Nursing Services. She served as Interim Vice President of Nursing Services at Enloe Medical Center since June 2007.The VP of Nursing is responsible for all aspects of nursing practice, policies, procedures and quality at Enloe Medical Center.

"Connie brings strong nursing skill and knowledge, a patient care focus and naturalleadership ability," said Mike Wiltermood, Enloe’s Chief Operating Officer. “She has done an incredible job over the past several months, and we look forward to her future contributions."

As Interim Vice President of Nursing, Rowe was responsible for hospital compliance with regulatory standards. She was instrumental in coordinating preparation for Enloe’s recent survey by the Joint Commission, which resulted in Enloe receiving accreditation for the next three years.

One area that Rowe focused on during her eight months as Interim Vice President of Nursing was strengthening relationships and connections between nurses in the various departments. This has involved gathering charge nurses at the main medical center for brief meetings to discuss patient flow through the hospital, hospital census, any specific patient concerns or needs, and staffing levels. Rowe has also worked on incorporating a Planetree approach to nursing care at Enloe. Planetree integrates human caring with the best of scientific medicine and complementary healing traditions. The new nursing care approach, which started on one unit and resulted in positive patient satisfaction, will be rolled out over time to Enloe’s other nursing units.

Rowe has worked in numerous capacities at Enloe since 1984, including Staff Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse on a medical oncology unit, Director of Quality, Director of the Case Management and Risk Management, and Director of Patient Admissions.

Rowe is a Registered Nurse and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration. She also received certifications in Quality and Case Management. Rowe was employed at Enloe from 1984 through 1999, returning in 2005. Rowe was selected as the new Vice President of Nursing following an extensive search process.

In related news, Enloe named Stephen Frost, RN, as Assistant Vice President of Nursing. Frost joins Enloe from Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, Calif., where he most recently served as Director of Nursing. Frost’s first day at Enloe was Monday, Feb. 11. He will assist Rowe with efforts to improve nursing processes that enhance patient care and satisfaction.
