Enloe Medical Center invites community to learn
basics of the brain and nerves at free lecture

CHICO, Calif., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 – The brain and nerves will be the focus in Enloe Medical Center’s next “Anatomy 101 for Everyone!” -- a series of free public lectures on the basics of human anatomy. Joel Rothfeld, MD, PhD a neurologist at Enloe Medical Center, will present the lecture on Thursday, Jan. 10 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Enloe Conference Center.

“The brain and nerves are our control center and keeper of emotions and memory,” said Trudy Duisenberg, Community Outreach Coordinator. “Should we all be doing Sudoko? This question and much more will be discussed at Thursday’s event.”

Brains and Nerves will be the first Anatomy 101 lecture for 2008. The next lectures will focus on heart and circulation system, for Heart Month in February, followed by a lecture on kidneys and the urinary tract. In 2007, the series covered bones and muscles and the digestive system.

“Most of us tend to take our complex body functions for granted until something isn’t working right,” said Duisenberg. “This series is part of Enloe Medical Center’s ongoing efforts to encourage community members to take charge of their health.”

Each of the lectures will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Enloe Conference Center, located at 1528 Esplanade, at 5th Avenue in Chico. Reservations are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. For more information on the series, please call 332-7016.
