Getting ready for a new baby and parenting are exciting and important times. Enloe's Mother & Baby Care Education Center wants to help you and your family prepare. We offer a range of classes for before and after the baby is born. Our goal is to provide excellent services that promote healthy living for babies and families.

BEFORE BABY

Maternity Orientation

Get to know us better by joining us for our Maternity Orientation! Discover our philosophy of care, get pre-admitted and learn what to expect during your stay. To pre-admit, please bring your insurance card and a picture ID, such as your driver's license.
Time: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Prepared Childbirth

This childbirth preparation series of classes is designed to help expectant mothers and their partners create a positive birth experience and feel prepared for the care of their newborn and breastfeeding. Topics include the full scope of available pain management options, including natural breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as epidurals and medications. All classes are taught by our highly trained Registered Nurse Instructors. The Prepared Childbirth class is held one evening per week on Wednesday or Thursday evenings for five consecutive weeks or on over the weekend.
Prepared Childbirth Complete Package Cost: $125 per couple.

AFTER BABY

Bittie Baby & Me (0 to 3 months old)

The role of being a new parent can be overwhelming at times. Become part of a caring group of parents with babies up to three months of age. Learn up-to-date recommendations about infant care and development, and ways to cope with the emotional, social and physical transitions into parenthood in this six-class series.

Cost: Free if you delivered your baby at Enloe Medical Center (please bring your free class certificate to your first class), otherwise there is a $75 charge for the 6-class series (or $15/class).
Registration Info: Pre-registration is not required; just show up for valuable information.
Time: Tuesdays, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Infant Massage

Learn how to communicate and cue into your baby's needs through your loving and gentle touch. Recent research has proved that increased brain, emotional and social development occurs when babies are massaged and responded to in a respectful manner from a loving parent or caregiver. For babies, from newborn through crawling. Additional Infant Massage classes are also offered as part of the Bittie Baby series of classes.

Breastfeeding Consultations

Personalized breastfeeding consults are available with our Lactation Consultant, who can answer questions and offer advice. Private consultations by appointment are available Tuesday through Saturday in the afternoons, from noon till 5 p.m. Please call our Lactation Consultant at 332-7015 for more information or to set up an appointment.

 

SAFETY CLASSES

Infant/Pediatric CPR

The No. 1 cause of death for children under the age of five is preventable accidents. Learn how to make your child's environment safe, how to prevent the most common childhood accidents, and infant/child CPR techniques for newborns through age 8. Babies and children should not attend this class, please.

Supersitter

This class is for children 11 years and older who want to learn how to be responsible babysitters and gain insight about infant and pediatric CPR techniques. A pediatric CPR participation card is provided to all participants.
