Behavioral Health
Enloe Behavioral Health provides 24-hour hospital care for adults,
ages 18 and up, who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder.
Our program is designed to stabilize the crisis that led to hospitalization,
provide a thorough evaluation, develop a treatment plan and coordinate
care in a supportive environment with 24-hour nursing care. Ancillary
services of other hospital departments are used when needed for
the benefit of the patient's health.
Our program
Our inpatient program is comprised of a multidisciplinary team
working with patients who are experiencing the debilitating effects
of depression, anxiety, mood and thought disorders as well as psychosis.
Our focal point is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment
and skills training, which provides patients access to a better
means of coping with problems outside the hospital. Components of
this program include, but are not limited to:
- Skill building
- Education, milieu groups
- Process groups
- Stress management
- Therapeutic recreational activities.
Discharge
planning, which begins at the time of admission, is focused
on ensuring that the recovery process continues after discharge
by connecting patients and their family members, if appropriate,
to resources that specifically meet our patients' needs.
Signs and symptoms
Half of all Americans will experience a mental illness during their
lifetime. Mental or emotional problems affect all aspects of our
lives. Individuals may become so overwhelmed that they cannot function
day to day. Signs and symptoms that individuals exhibit may include
one or more of the following:
- Suicidal behavior and/or threats
- Assaultive behavior
- Sleep or eating disturbances
- Severe agitation
- Medication noncompliance
- Severe mood swings
- Excessive and uncontrolled anger
- Hearing voices
Most depression
and other emotional illnesses are treatable, especially if dealt
with early. In addition to improving one's outlook on life, therapy
also helps individuals to better care for themselves and follow
their primary care provider's directions, particularly with regards
to taking medications. For more information, or to make
