Home-Generated Sharps Disposal
With the late-2008 change in California law regarding disposal of home-generated sharps, many people have questions about where they can dispose of their waste generated at home.
What are "sharps"? Sharps consist of medical devices meant to pierce or cut tissue. Items such as hypodermic needles, catheters, scalpels and dental tools are common sharp wastes. Sharps were banned from municipal solid waste streams because of the risk they pose to solid waste collection workers and the public.
