An Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico. Attend this free info session led by Steve Flowers, MS, MFT, director of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic at Enloe and a licensed psychotherapist with a private practice. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) offers potential benefits for all types of participants, including those suffering from a wide range of chronic disorders and diseases. Studies have shown that the practice of MBSR reduced pain-related drug use and increased activity levels and positive feelings of self-esteem for a majority of participants. RSVP not required. VIVA! 2010-2011 Sessions Begin
2nd Tuesdays of the month, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., through May, when six or more kids are committed to attending. Cancer Center Conference Room, 251 Cohasset Road, Chico. Free support program, provided by Enloe Cancer Connections, for children and teens, age 6 to 16, who are dealing with the cancer diagnosis of a loved one. Participants spend time with a licensed health care professional and an art assistant addressing challenges and exploring ways to feel better by doing fun activities and art projects.
