Healthy Hearts Support Group (Topic: Happiness)

Video guest Shawn Achor, author of New York Times best-selling books The Happiness Advantage and Before Happiness, will lead an introduction on happiness and topics pertaining to living a happy life. Cancer Discussion Group
(Topic: Beating Fear and Worry: Hope Begins Here)

At this group for patients and their caregivers at any stage of the cancer journey, learn useful tips for coping with fear and worry from two-time cancer survivor Terry Mathews. The Cancer Discussion Group meets on the third Thursday of each month. For more information, call (530) 332-3856.

Walk with a Doc

Join cardiologist Peter Magnusson, MD, for our second Walk with a Doc of 2015. Each month a doctor from a different specialty will lead a walk and give a health-inspiring message. All ages and abilities are welcome! In this second year of the program, we have partnered with Butte Glenn Medical Society Alliance to bring together more physicians and participants and have expanded it to take place on the third Saturday of every month.

Bariatric Buddies (Topic: Body Image and How It’s Affected by Weight Loss)

As requested by popular demand, guest speaker and psychologist Dr. Marty Grant will teach you how to become comfortable with your new body image by being more aware of the dynamics that can keep you from being successful with your weight loss. Bariatric Buddies provides information and support for those considering or who have had bariatric surgery. Friends, family and support persons are welcome. Health and fitness are important for everyone, so gather your family and friends and join us Saturday morning for a fun way to take charge of your health AND give back to your community. Enloe’s Heart & Sole event starts with a Run for Wellness, featuring a one-mile walk or a 5k+ fun run. Both courses will have some fun surprises along the way and special treats at the finish line for participants, PLUS your registration fee will help support the Enloe Heart Program. The Run for Wellness is NOT a timed run, it is a FUN run for ALL ages and ability levels. After the run, the community is invited to participate in the Wellness Expo which will feature free health screenings and wellness-inspiring activities for the whole family. Diabetes Alert Day

9 a.m. to Noon (Drop in anytime) | Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico

This open house-style event will offer participants free blood sugar screenings, plus access to education and information about all aspects of diabetes, including signs and symptoms, exercise and nutrition, medication and local resources. This is a free event. Please check back for online registration. Thee number of adults with type 2 diabetes continues to climb with nearly 10% of Butte County adults now living with this chronic condition. Unfortunately, nearly a third of those individuals don’t know they have diabetes. Take a proactive approach to your health and know your numbers!

Pre-Diabetes Class

5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Check-in, 5 p.m. | Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico

This two-and-a-half-hour class is designed for all adults, whether you think you have diabetes or not. Learn from our health care professionals how to take charge of your health.
The class has a $10 fee. Please check back for online registration. Topics and presenters include:
