Community outreach and education are very important to us at Enloe Medical Center. Here we offer a listing of our upcoming community wellness events for the general public. We update this calendar of events throughout the year.

Wednesday, October 1

FREE DRIVE-THROUGH Flu Vaccine CLINIC

7 a.m. to 1 p.m. (as supplies last) | Calvary Chapel, 1888 Springfield Drive, Chico
(This free drive-through flu clinic has a public bus stop and a wheel chair accessible vaccine station. If you are driving, please use this route for best traffic flow in the neighborhood: Take Hwy 32, turn south at Forest Ave. Turn right at second Springfield Drive, about a mile. First driveway into clinic is the only entrance. Please remain in your car.)

The vaccine at the Enloe Flu Clinics, taking place Oct. 1, 6 and 11, protects against seasonal flu strains and is appropriate for adults and children age 3 and up. Additionally, the clinics will have limited supply of preservative-free vaccine for pregnant women. Attendees should let a volunteer know if they are pregnant at check-in to receive the correct paperwork and vaccine. Vaccination at the clinics will be given on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Anyone attending should wear clothing that allows vaccination to their upper arm.

Healthy Aging Summit & Senior Expo

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. | Lakeside Pavilion, 2565 California Park Drive, Chico

Join representatives from Enloe Medical Center at this year's Healthy Aging Summit & Senior Expo hosted by the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD). Also enjoy a cooking demonstration by Chico Natural Foods, learn about Covered California open enrollment, and explore a wide variety of local resources for active seniors. The Celebration - Sneak Peek - supporting breast cancer

5 p.m. Doors Open, 6 p.m. Sneak Peek Performance Begins | The Palms, 2947 Nord Ave, Chico

The Celebration show has sold out in past years, so the Celebration Foundation is offering seats at this “Sneak Peek” final rehearsal at a discounted price. The Celebration Sneak Peek will have all of the lighting and music of the actual show, without the fashions. The ticket price of $20 also includes a small plate appetizer, no host bar, and an opportunity to view prizes and participate in a prize drawing. The aptly named Celebration is an event to celebrate men and women who have had or are currently battling breast cancer. The Celebration Foundation is dedicated to supporting our local breast cancer community by providing an inspirational and empowering showcase of the beauty, grace and resilience of life beyond breast cancer. Proceeds will benefit the Enloe Foundation’s Celebration Compassion Fund for cancer patients at Enloe Medical Center and their families. To order tickets, email celebrationchico@gmail.com.

Walk with a doc - Walk for weight loss

8 a.m. to 9 a.m. l Hancock Park, 3167 Middletown Ave. (at Marigold Ave.), Chico | Look for the “Walk with a Doc” signs.

Learn how you can incorporate low-impact walking for weight loss into your everyday routine with tips from Deron Ludwig, MD, one of the bariatric surgeons affiliated with Enloe Medical Center.
All ages and abilities are welcome at this FREE event. Experience healthy inspiration and camaraderie when you Walk With a Doc.

The Celebration Show - supporting breast cancer *****SOLD OUT!*****

The Palms, 2947 Nord Ave, Chico

Join us for The Celebration, a festive fashion show event created to celebrate men and women who have had or are currently battling breast cancer. Choose from one of these two ticket options: 1) For $75, receive the full package: a reserved seat, lunch, a Bellini drink, an opportunity to view prizes and participate in a prize drawing. Arrive at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. The show begins at 1:30 p.m. 2) For $35, stroll the beautiful grounds, have a small plate appetizer and a Bellini drink, see the prizes, purchase tickets to an opportunity drawing and enjoy the show in general seating.  Arrive at noon. The show begins at 1:30 p.m.

Healing Art Reception

4:30p.m. to 6 p.m. | Enloe Regional Cancer Center, 265 Cohasset Road, Chico

Celebrating the work of artists and cancer survivors Jane King and Gina Rose Halpern, D.Min, BCCC, and the Lilly Oncology on Canvas exhibition. Refreshments, live music. The Healing Art Gallery inside the Enloe Regional Cancer Center displays quarterly exhibits by Northern California artists whose lives have been touched by cancer. Gina Rose Halpern's mixed media will be on display through mid-January. Lilly Oncology On Canvas (LOOC) is a biennial art competition and exhibition that provides everyone affected by cancer—those who have been diagnosed, their health care providers, family members, friends and caregivers—the opportunity to express the life-affirming changes that give that journey meaning and to share their cancer journey through art. Cancer Discussion Group

Topic: Getting What You Need … Practical Tips for Treatment and Survivorship

4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. | Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico

Assessing what you need and finding support during treatment and throughout your cancer journey reduces stress and improves overall wellness. Our discussion, with guest speaker Kathleen Muldoon, MSW, will focus on practical tips and helpful resources offered by Enloe social workers and will include time for wisdom sharing by survivors at various stages of cancer survivorship. The Cancer Discussion Group is open to survivors, patients and their caregivers at any stage of the cancer journey. It meets on the third Thursday of each month and includes a guest speaker and discussion topics related to managing the challenges associated with cancer and improving overall wellness. Enloe Medical Center is pleased to sponsor this year’s 5th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Making Strides is a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope and a shared determination to put an end to breast cancer. Free HICAP Workshop: What's New With Medicare in 2015?

Medicare's Open Enrollment is Oct. 15-Dec. 7, 2014. The public is invited to attend this special meeting to learn about the new or changed Part D plans, Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare benefits. Be informed! Doing nothing may cost you money. Appointments are highly recommended and can be scheduled at BloodSource.org/Drives (enter code H004) or by contacting Margie Rackley at margie.rackley@enloe.org or (530) 332-6444. Bring a photo ID such as a driver’s license, drink plenty of fluids and eat a good meal within four hours before giving blood. Donors must be age 16 (with a signed parental consent form) to adult.
