Asthma Education

Bariatric Pre-Surgical Education Class
Free two-hour class to help patients prepare for gastric bypass surgery at Enloe. Provides a better idea of what to expect during the hospital visit and how to participate in the recovery process. Gives an opportunity to ask questions of medical professionals and meet others who will be having the same surgery. Spouse, relatives or friends are welcome and encouraged to attend class. Held two Thursdays each month, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. If interested in attending, please call 530.891.1651. Post-surgery classes are also offered. CPR & Basic First Aid Classes
Enloe Medical Center holds several classes for health care professionals and lay persons.

Diabetes Services & Education
- Education and group classes for people with Type I and Type II diabetes. 530.332.6840

- Diabetes, Nutrition and Pregnancy Education Services: Physician-referral required. Participants gain the knowledge and self-care skills necessary to manage their condition effectively. 530.332.6840

Healthy Heart
The following educational programs and support groups are offered through the Enloe Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Call 530.332.6898 for more information.
- Your Heart, Your Future: One-hour class designed for people recovering from a cardiac event, such as a heart attack, or from procedures such as bypass surgery. Learn about how the heart works and risk factors that are important to control for healthy heart living. Class meets every Wednesday (except holidays), 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Enloe Outpatient Center, Building C. Free and open to the public.
- Stress Management for Cardiac Patients and Families: Stress is a major cause of illness and heart disease. This eight-week class helps participants learn to manage the stresses of everyday life. Meets on Fridays at 9:30 a.m. No charge for class; $10 materials fee.
Enloe also offers Cardiac Rehabilitation, an educational and exercise-conditioning program to help decrease risk of future heart problems. The program is tailored to help each person improve their health, increase their strength and endurance, and to feel better. Sessions are directed by a Registered Nurse and an Exercise Physiologist. 332-6898
A Joint Effort Patient Education Program
Free two-hour class helps patients prepare for total joint replacement surgery. Provides a better idea of what to expect during the hospital visit and how to participate in the recovery process. Gives an opportunity to ask questions of medical professionals and meet others who will be having the same surgery. Spouse, relatives or friends are welcome and encouraged to attend class. Held monthly on first and third Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon, at the Enloe Rehabilitation Center. To enroll, please call 530.332.7446.
The Lebed Method: Focus on Healing Through Movement and Dance
Gentle therapeutic exercise to help women regain range of motion, increase flexibility, reduce swelling from Lymphedema, decrease depression, and promote positive self-image and joy! Mondays, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Enloe Regional Cancer Center's Conference Room. Free with $10 materials fee. Pre-registration required. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic
An eight-week class to teach the tools of awareness and relaxation to reduce fatigue, manage stress, anxiety and pain, promote calmness, strengthen concentration, enhance health, and well being and enrich the quality of life. Includes meditation, yoga, life-skills education and daily practice assignments. Offered on Tuesday's evenings three times a year -- in the winter, spring and fall and includes an all-day Saturday session. Class meets for 2.5 hours at Enloe Outpatient Center - Building C (Exercise Room - Cardio/Pulmonary Rehab). The cost is $355, which includes registration, textbook workbook, two CDs and a non refundable deposit. In some instances, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits and health insurance coverage may apply. Class led by Steve Flowers, M.S., MFT. Two units college credit available through CSU, Chico; physicians, nurses, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and licensed clinical social workers may report 24 hours of Category 1 Credit toward the California Medical Association in Continuing Medical Education. Telling Our Stories
Free writing group for people who want to learn more about writing to heal. Meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Enloe Regional Cancer Center Conference Room, 251 Cohasset Road, Chico. (530) 332-3855
