Nutritional and Nurturing Aspects of Food
This is one of our patient-centered initiatives addressing the components of Planetree.
- With a focus on optimizing flavor, Enloe Medical Center introduced the "Great Living Menu" for patients in June 2013. This menu contains more fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains than previous menus, while also reducing total fat and sodium.
- In 2011, in response to the cultural needs of our patients, Enloe's patient menu began offering meals specially created for Hmong patients. The new dishes are Laotian Beef and Herb Salad, Pork and Mustard Greens Soup, Stir Fried Chicken with Tomatoes, Garlicky Green Bean Stir Fry, Chicken Soup with Tofu, Everyday Rice, Plain Rice Porridge and Rice Porridge with Meat. These meals enhance patients’ nutritional status by providing healthy foods that they are more likely to eat.
- Enloe introduced a new patient menu in 2009, in response to patient preference.
- In 2008, Enloe refreshed its menu to provide a larger variety of selections, including more vegetarian options.
