Local student receives Enloe Volunteers’
first College Volunteer Scholarship
CHICO, Calif., Dec. 29, 2011 – Enloe Volunteer Services is proud to announce that Jeffery Marsh has been selected as the first recipient of the Enloe Medical Center Volunteers’ College Scholarship, a $500 award given Dec. 12. Marsh was among several outstanding applicants. He is pursuing a Registered Nursing license at Butte-Glenn Community College
and has been a volunteer in Enloe’s College Volunteer program since August 2011.
During his time here, Jeffery has captured the attention of many patients and visitors who appreciate his kindness,” said Roseanna Galindo-Kuhn, Director of Volunteer Services. “He has demonstrated a real heart of volunteer service. He goes out of his way to assist patients and help them be more comfortable.” One of many examples is, when Marsh was in training as a volunteer, he learned of a patient who was looking for a Western novel. The volunteers’ supply didn’t turn up a Western, so Marsh took the time to locate one from a personal friend.

The Volunteers’ College Scholarship is given to outstanding local college students who
participate in Enloe’s College Volunteer Program and are pursuing a degree in the medical field. Recipients also exemplify the core values of Enloe Medical Center and embody a culture of patient-centered care.
“By providing funding to these local students we are investing in the future of health care professionals. These students have given their time and talent to serve us, and it is a pleasure to be able to offer them some assistance in return,” said Galindo-Kuhn.
Applications for this new scholarship will be available and accepted during the fall semester, and the scholarship award is for use during a subsequent semester. To apply, applicants must be currently enrolled in 12 or more units in a degree-granting program at a local college or university, be registered in coursework pursing a degree in the medical field, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, currently participate in the College Volunteer Program through Enloe Volunteer Services, and have completed at least 30 hours of service at Enloe Medical Center.
