Enloe Medical Center, Public Health to offer
public H1N1 Flu vaccination clinic Jan. 14

CHICO, Calif., Jan. 8, 2010 – A free walk-in H1N1 vaccination clinic will take place on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. or as supplies last. Vaccine will be available for adults and children age 3 and up as well as pregnant women. The clinic will take place at Manzanita Place (The Elks Lodge), 1705 Manzanita Ave., in Chico.

Enloe Medical Center is organizing and conducting the clinic with vaccine provided by California Department of Public Health in partnership with Butte County Public Health Department.

Attendees should arrive wearing clothing that allows vaccination to the upper arm. Upon arrival, please park in the rear parking lot and form a line from the front door to the rear parking lot. Please do not contact Manzanita Place for details. More information is available on the Enloe Flu Information line at 332-7017 and at www.enloe.org/flu.

For children under age 10 who have already received a first dose of the vaccine at least four weeks ago, this will be an opportunity to receive a second dose. Additionally, Enloe will provide a date for a second shot for children under age 10 who receive the vaccine for the first time at the Jan. 14 clinic.

The flu clinic is taking place during National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), a national observance that was established to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination and to foster greater use of flu vaccine after the holiday season into January and beyond. This year's NIVW (originally scheduled for December 6-10, 2009) is now rescheduled for January 10-16, 2010.

Enloe Medical Center, with the Butte County Health Department and many volunteers, provided just over 4,500 seasonal flu vaccines to the community in 2009. These were given in a large free public "drive-thru" clinic, a free and a low-cost walk-in clinic, and several smaller free clinics for Chico's at-risk population. These smaller clinics included vaccinations at Enloe Regional Cancer Center for patients and their families caring for them; the Jesus Center, the Torres Shelter, the Esplanade House; and Youth & Family Foster Agency.
