Enloe announces art reception, online auction

CHICO, Calif., June 25, 2010 – Enloe Medical Center invites the community to attend an Art Panels Sidewalk Reception on July 9 and to participate in an online auction for the alcove art panels created by outstanding local artists. The nine alcove art pieces installed at the Enloe Parking Structure have been enjoyed by employees, patients and their families, and the Avenues neighborhood since April 2009. The theme of the artwork is The Healing Power of Nature.

The public is invited to attend an Art Panels Sidewalk Reception on July 9 on the corner of Magnolia and Sixth Avenues from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet the artists and get a view of their nine panels and enjoy light refreshments in the shade alongside the alcove art panels.

The art panels will be available for purchase in an online auction with two bidding rounds.

  • July 9 at 8 a.m. to July 15 at 5 p.m.: A “buy-it-now-sale” offering each piece at $1,000.
  • July 15 5:15 p.m. to July 22 at 5 p.m.: An extended online auction with a $500 minimum bid for any pieces not already purchased.

Buyers of the art may also opt to purchase one of the alcove panels as a gift to the hospital in honor or memory of someone, or as an outright gift to the community.

This is the second auction that Enloe Medical Center has held for art alcove pieces that have been on display at the Enloe Parking Structure. The art work is an example of the Healing Environments component of the Planetree approach to patient-centered health care. Enloe is one of more than 140 Planetree affiliates across the country and internationally.

The artwork can be viewed at the Enloe Parking Structure as well as online at www.enloe.org/planetree. The pieces are: POMEGRANATES by artist Brigitta Brewster; CHICO LIFE by artist Cindi Schildhauer; OCTOBER ROAD by artist Frank Wilson, HONEYRUN BRIDGE by artist Hillary Sesnon, KOI FISH KITE by artist Christine Muratore, SPRING MEADOW by artist Frank Wilson, ORCHID by artist Colleen Wampole; TREE OF LIFE by artist Sunset Regall; and BIDWELL PARK by artist Christine MacShane.
