CHICO, Calif., Oct. 2, 2009 –The Enloe FlightCare helipad will be named after Chico Emergency Physicians Medical Group, which recently gave a $250,000 gift to the Enloe Century Project. The physician group is made up of 14 local doctors who provide emergency medical care around the clock at Enloe Medical Center’s Emergency Department. The Century Project is the name of Enloe’s expansion plans currently underway.

"A significant donation like this shows the group's long-term commitment to the community and hospital," Robert Adams Vice President of the Enloe Foundation said.

Established in 2000 as a democratic group practice, Chico Emergency Physicians Medical Group is comprised of many physicians who have practiced with Enloe since the 1980s. Working as independent licensed practitioners, the group aims to provide exceptional patient care at Enloe.

“It is important to us to invest in an entity we care about,” William Voelker, MD, FAAEM, president of the physician group said. “We also hope that our gift may encourage others to donate time or money to enhance services.”

The helipad, home to Enloe FlightCare provides 24-hour service 7 days a week to the rural areas of the far north state. FlightCare has been at Enloe since 1985 and has flown more than 1.5 million miles and had about 13,711 patient flights.

"Our group has worked closely with the administration to improve and maintain the delivery of quality health care to the community,” Charles Merriman, MD, assistant medical director of the physician group said. “The donation is just another way for our group to show our support for the Enloe mission." Enloe’s mission is: To improve the quality of your life through patient-centered care.

The total raised in the New Beginning Campaign, which includes the Century Project, Planetree patient-centered care and scholarships is $9.5 million. The Campaign goal is to raise $15 million for these three initiatives. As a population segment, physicians have given the most of all groups giving to the Century Project. They have given nearly $2 million.
