Community library grand opening, Planetree health fair set for May 21

CHICO, Calif., May 20, 2009 – The public is invited to visit Enloe Medical Center campus on Thursday, May 21 for its Passport to Planetree event. This includes a ribbon cutting and open house for the Enloe Health Learning Center, a new public library; a health fair that will feature examples of the Planetree approach to health care in action; and a presentation about the healing power of nature.

5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.  –  Enloe Health Learning Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
6 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Enloe Health Learning Center Open House
Enloe Health Learning Center, 1465 Esplanade at 5th Avenue, Chico
Join us for our grand opening of this new community library that provides health care information through books, periodicals, Internet access, multimedia resources and more. The library is free and open to the public, and our library cards are free. For more about the new resource, visit www.enloe.org/library.

6 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Passport to Planetree - Health Fair
Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade at 5th Avenue, Chico
Opportunity for community members to see examples of the Planetree approach to health care that Enloe Medical Center has begun implementing at the hospital. Participants will be able to enjoy interactive activities, such as hand massage, live music, demonstrations to experience how it feels to have disabilities and healing art activities. Current Planetree initiatives at Enloe that will be on display, include patient-centered care, spirituality, healing environment, healthy communities, and nutrition and food, and access to information.

7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Presentation - The Healing Power of Nature, Aldebra Schroll, M.D.
Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade at 5th Avenue, Chico

Natural settings and images of nature are important aspects of the Planetree approach to care. Dr. Schroll, a family practice physician with Argyll Medical Group and a member of the Enloe medical staff, is passionate about the Planetree approach to care. Dr. Schroll is an independent licensed practitioner not employed by the medical center.
