Enloe presents SEIU-UHW with Last, Best and Final offer

 Enloe’s Service Unit employees to vote on Enloe’s contract offer

WHAT: Enloe Medical Center and the Service Employees International Union – United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) have been bargaining in good faith for more than a year to reach an agreement on a contract to govern the terms and working conditions of employees in the Service Unit. After more than 40 bargaining sessions, on June 12, 2008 Enloe made its Last, Best and Final offer for a collective bargaining agreement for Service Unit employees. These employees will have an opportunity to vote on Enloe’s proposed contract in an election conducted by the union on June 24 and June 25, 2008.

WHEN: An election has been scheduled to take place on June 24 and June 25, 2008 on the Enloe Medical Center campus.

WHO: Enloe’s Service Unit is composed of 659 employees with job titles that include Certified Nurse Assistant, Lab Assistant, Lift Technician, Monitor Technician, Unit Secretary and many others.

KEY ISSUES IN ENLOE’S OFFER: Enloe’s final offer for the collective bargaining agreement for Service Unit employees includes wage and benefits proposals as well as other issues. The wage proposal includes a total increase of more than 13 percent over three years. The wage scales are based on a recent wage survey of North State hospitals Mercy Medical Center – Redding, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, Shasta Regional Medical Center, Feather River Hospital, Oroville Hospital and Fremont-Rideout Health Group.

NEXT STEPS: The union will conduct an election for Enloe Service Unit employees to vote on Enloe’s proposed contract. If ratified, the contract will be implemented and the new wage scale will be implemented June 29, 2008. If not ratified, the parties may be heading for impasse.
