Enloe Medical Center to celebrate opening of parking structure
WHAT: Enloe Medical Center will celebrate the opening of its parking structure with a “tailgate party.” Activities will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, slide show presentation, announcement of Enloe Fit 4 Life Commuter Contest Grand Prize winners, food and refreshments, information booths, sidewalk chalk for kids and DJ music. Also, on display will be vintage cars belonging to local residents and employees and a buggy that the medical center’s founder, Dr. Newton Thomas Enloe, used for house calls. Speakers at the presentations will include Laura Hennum, Vice President, Strategy, Communications and Marketing; Mike Wiltermood, Chief Operating Officer; Darby Makel, Chair, Enloe Board of Trustees; and Lance Tennis, Chair, Enloe Foundation Board of Directors.
WHO: Enloe community, neighbors and others involved with construction and planning
WHEN: Tailgate party: Thursday, Aug. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Ribbon cutting ceremony: 5:15 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. Parking structure opens: Friday, Aug. 29 at 4 a.m.
WHERE: On the ground floor of the parking structure, 130 West 6th Avenue, at Magnolia Avenue Event parking at Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The parking structure is for employees, physicians and volunteers. Patients and visitors will continue park in the lots at 5th and Magnolia, closest to the medical center’s main entrance. The last day for employees and volunteers to park and shuttle from Chico Nut and the two other off-site parking lots is Friday, Aug. 29. Valet service will continue at the medical center.
The parking structure is the first phase of the Enloe Century Project expansion, which also includes a new patient tower and a park. The four-level, three-story Mediterranean-style building provides 742 parking spaces. Its façade is designed to complement the forthcoming patient tower. The structure also includes bicycles racks with 45 spaces.
Modern Building, the contractor, has enabled us to open the structure three months early. Landscaping will continue, and the elevator will be installed in September. All parking for people with disabilities is at the ground level; the elevator is not part of the building’s ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) access. The public art project for the parking structure is in progress; art will be submitted in October.
